One of the Music City’s historically elegant neighborhoods
Located right along the McCabe Golf Course and scenic greenway, Cherokee Park is one of Nashville’s historically charming neighborhoods. Whether it’s Cape Cods or two-story brick Colonial Revivals, the traits of much of these homes evoke the era when they were built. Many of the few hundred houses packed between the railroad tracks and West End Avenue date back to the 1930s, with million-dollar properties not uncommon. The neighborhood has also been active over the years in protecting its historic character. With some acclaimed restaurants to the north that some residents can reach on foot with the aid of the Richland Creek Greenway, Cherokee Park is considered well positioned. “It’s in the metro Nashville area, so I would say it’s in a convenient part of town,” says Happy Fulk, team leader for Happy Tara Homes and a Realtor with PARKS who has made a few sales in Cherokee Park. “It also has sidewalks in the neighborhood, which is actually pretty rare in Nashville. That is really appealing to people. It’s also a historical neighborhood, so there are historical overlays, which protect the neighborhood and keep the aesthetics in place. So, people can’t come in there and do whatever they want with these historical homes. It keeps the neighborhood true to itself.”
Cherokee Park is about 15-20 minutes away from the Downtown Nashville center.
Cherokee Park dates back to 1928 and was the first subdivision in Nashville..

From cozy cottages to elegant Tudors and Colonials
Although the sidewalks aren’t everywhere in Cherokee Parks, residents often go on casual walks along the neighborhood’s many narrow roads. Areas like the one around Mockingbird Road feature a series of two-story brick Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival homes, with a few ranch-styles and Cape Cods sprinkled in between. Tall, mature trees shade some of these spacious front yards, some of which feature skillfully-decorated garden beds. For one property, for instance, rows of small bushes enclose a portion of the yard and a wrought-iron fence forms the border with the neighboring home. To the north along Aberdeen Road, the neighborhood takes on a more cozy feel and features smaller lots, but still emanates the historic charm. There are more Cape Cods and other single-story homes with Craftsman and ranch-style features along a narrow road also lined by tall, mature trees. Price points in can go from just under $900,000 for a cottage with ranch-style features to just over $2 million for a two-story Tudor Revival. A Colonial Revival here can also go for well over $1 million.
The red brick Tudor Revival is the cornerstone home of the Cherokee Park community.
Colonial Revival style of homes are less frequent in the Cherokee Park neighborhood.
