Moss Creek
A wide variety of housing designs
Amid the rolling hills and woods, Moss Creek’s homes come in a variety of styles. Single-family constructions populate the area alongside condominiums and town houses, with the majority of recently-sold properties built between 1960 and the late 1990s. Classic brick ranch homes are very popular in Moss Creek, and the single-level ranch, be it brick or painted, is generally a common find. Other styles include Greek revivals with pillared facades, Craftsman designs, split-level layouts and even some large Colonial homes. Oak, pine and cherry blossom trees can be found on some of the lots, and homes in Moss Creek typically sell for anywhere from close to $400,000 to around $700,000.Education located outside Moss Creek
Westmeade Elementary School is where students in the Moss Creek area start out, with the school rated a B-minus from Niche and serving up through fourth grade. After graduating Westmeade, enrollment moves on to Bellevue Middle School, a magnet school rating at a C-plus with Niche. James Lawson High School completes grade school for Moss Creek students with grades nine through 12, scoring a C-plus on Niche while ranking highly among state high schools in terms of diversity and college preparation.Expansive green spaces with amenities
Edwin Warner Park is the primary spot for recreation and the only green space within Moss Creek’s boundaries, with its Bellevue Road Playground within the southeastern corner of the neighborhood. The Edwin Warner Park Hill Tract expands beyond that to the east, while its primary expanse is across the highway. With nearly 3100 acres of foliage and a spot on the National Register of Historic Places, Edwin Warner Park and its sister park Percy Warner offer visitors a nature center, athletic fields, a dog park and an equine center. At Percy Warner, visitors can find a greenway, community gardens and nature exhibits.Shopping centers and local eateries
For local shopping and dining, head to One Bellevue Place, a revamped center sitting on the site of its predecessor that shared its name. From catching the latest blockbusters or indie films at the AMC Theater, to shopping at Michaels or to grabbing a bite at Chik-fil-A, the complex has many options, as well as two ice rinks that the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators oversee. Local spots include City Limits Bakery and Café, Tequilas Mexican Restaurant and The Well Coffeehouse, while Bellevue Valley Plaza features a Kroger and Aldi for general shopping needs.Train-themed recreation with frequent events
To the north, Red Caboose Park is one of the more unique all-purpose recreational areas of Moss Creek. Featuring a caboose structure, of course, along with a playground, areas for picnics and an amphitheater for its live summer concert series. “Red Caboose Park is a great place,” Kupin, who’s also the city councilperson for downtown Nashville, says. “There’s lots of different events and gatherings that happen there, and residents just have easy access to parks and green space.” Other frequent and annual events for the area include farmers markets and Easter egg hunts.Highways to the north and south
The northernmost corner of Moss Creek runs right up to part of U.S. Route 70, while Tennessee’s Route 100 runs just to the south. “The area has really good proximity to downtown Nashville if people want to go to the city,” Kupin says. “They can take the 70 or 40 into town and probably get there within about 20 minutes.” Reaching downtown can vary in time, but typically can take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Bellevue Road also curves around the bottom of the neighborhood, comprising some of the southern boundary and ending close to Edwin Warner Park.
