The Cumberland River is an eastern boundary to Sutherland Heights.
A riverfront suburb near Music City
Found at the waterfront of the Cumberland River and bordered by the iconic Grand Ole Opry, Sutherland Heights is a small neighborhood that’s got quick access to a big Nashville personality. It’s only about 11 miles from downtown Music City—less than a 20-minute drive—so getting to the urban core is easy work. Commuters can use the several bus stops to reach major employers downtown with ease, like the Nashville International Airport. However, residents will “definitely hear the airport nearby,” says Josie Keeley, a former 10-year-resident of the Nashville area. “People flock to this area since there’s no income tax. A huge influx of people especially moved here in 2020,” says Keeley. “This has caused home shortages, so if you’re a buyer you have to act fast.” Sutherland Heights is a great landing place for those who want to be close to Nashville-centric fun while enjoying space and privacy that’s harder to come by in more urban areas.

Opry holds weekly shows featuring established and developing artists. For shopping, people visit Opry Mills Mall to venture into the 200 stores and the connected stage for musical performances. For a fun night out, people visit Broadway in downtown Nashville, which is home to many clubs and bars. “I always come here for a good time,” says Kellye Potter, a 5th generation Nashvillian and Broker/Owner of Selling Music City Realty. “One of my favorite spots is Big Machine Distillery.”
