In Hollywood Homes, residents are welcomed by tall, lush trees and walkable streets just 7 miles east of Norfolk and 13 miles west of Virginia Beach. “It’s a nice area for commuters since there’s easy access to the interstate,” says Robin DiBuono, associate broker with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. DiBuono worked in real estate for over three decades and has lived in the Hampton Roads area her whole life. The area is close to Virginia Wesleyan College and Virginia State University, making it a hub for students and young professional homebuyers. “The area is also near a bunch of military bases, which attracts a lot of homebuyers,” says DiBuono.

Bungalows with polished lawns
The area offers bungalows and ranch-style homes ranging from $250,000 to $350,000, with manicured lawns and small driveways. There are also newly constructed colonial-style homes ranging from $400,000 to $500,000 with fenced yards that are surrounded by trees. “With home types, there’s a little bit of everything in the neighborhood,” says DiBuono.

Showcasing cultures at Bayside High
Children in the area attend Diamond Springs Elementary, which boasts an A from Niche. After first grade, kids can move on to Newton Elementary, which has a student-to-teacher ratio of 12-to-1 and an overall grade of B-minus. For grades 4 and 5, children may advance to Williams Elementary, which also boasts a B-minus. Students can move on to Bayside Middle, which offers a debate club and has a B from Niche. In the summer, the area hosts an annual Harborfest, which has food vendors, Navy demonstrations and a fireworks show. There are also concerts held at the amphitheater in the warmer months. “I really look forward to the seasonal events,” says DiBuono.
