Bird watchers can spot waterfowl, raptors and songbirds through their binoculars, and anglers can hook catfish, bluegill and bass. The walkable district has a variety of restaurants and shops, from daytime diner Bacon and early-morning favorite Marvin’s Breakfast Club to Dr. Insomniac, a coffee shop where Novato’s busiest residents go to stave off sleep with hot cups of coffee and tea. Watts Music invites melophiles to browse vinyl, tapes and discs, and Accents or Hodgepodge Thrift Store offer a variety of clothing styles. Ayawaska Hilltop is just off Grant Avenue and serves cocktails and Peruvian cuisine. Downtown Novato also has a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s location.
