Plus, its Community Leadership Pathway teaches computer science courses in tandem with social justice courses to create a dynamic and hyper-modern education program.

Brookfield Library and museum events

The Brookfield branch of the Oakland Public Library sits on 98th Avenue, right next door to William “Bill” Patterson Park. The Oakland Aviation Museum is also nearby, located at a vintage hangar at Oakland International Airport. The museum aims to teach visitors about the historic North Field and several days each year are Open Cockpit Days where guests can view the aircraft from the cockpit and join in on several fun activities. Finally, the massive Oakland Coliseum, a premier venue to both major sports teams and entertainers alike, is just less than 3 miles away.

Freeway travel, public transit and airport access

Interstate 880 borders the eastern side of Columbia Gardens, running parallel to the eastern shores of San Francisco Bay. This interstate allows drivers to reach as far as San Jose, bridging Alameda County to Silicon Valley. Public transit is provided by the Alameda-Contra Costa (AC) buses that wind through the neighborhood. Oakland International Airport is just a mile away, making it quick and easy to catch flights nearby.
