Lively, diverse and walkable
Colorful murals, busy restaurants and local shops line the streets of Oakland’s Laurel District. On any given day, residents and visitors can be seen strolling the sidewalks, meeting friends for coffee and taking in the scenery from restaurant patios. Located just south of the Dimond District and west of Redwood Heights and Montclair, it sits squarely in the city’s urban core. “It’s got great walkability. It’s diverse. It’s multicultural,” says Realtor Mark Fleckles of Bay Area Modern Real Estate, who has lived in Oakland since 1998. It's also a tightknit community where neighbors get to know each other. “It’s common to see neighbors out and about walking their dogs and pushing strollers," says Realtor Deidre Joyner of Red Oak Realty.
