Classic bungalows and Craftsman homes line these walkable streets

The Laurel district offers a mix of early-1900s homes, including a wealth of classic California bungalows, Craftsman homes and Mediterranean Revival designs. They typically feature small front and back yards, with just enough room for a small garden. The neighborhood is very walkable, with well-maintained sidewalks interspersed with mature trees. “It’s common to see neighbors out and about walking their dogs and pushing strollers," says Realtor Deidre Joyner of Red Oak Realty. Many of these homes have been tastefully renovated and updated without losing their historic charm, while others may need some fixing up. Prices range from the mid-$400,000s to $1.5 million, depending on the level of renovation.
