Suburban living around the Sequoyah Country Club
With winding streets, hillside homes and lush trees surrounding the Sequoyah Country Club, Sequoyah embraces alfresco living complete with panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline. “Sequoyah is still in Oakland, but it’s also further out of the city in the Oakland Hills,” says Anissa Burnley, a Realtor with Keller Williams with over 25 years of experience in real estate. “There are lots of hiking and biking trails right there at the ridge, and you have the country club and the Oakland Zoo right beneath you.” Located just above Interstate 580 and about 20 miles from San Francisco, the community offers access to natural attractions and urban amenities.

Midcentury modern homes and gated condo community
Sequoyah Hills began as one of Joseph Eichler’s last developments in the San Francisco Bay area. The neighborhood is home to just 48 midcentury modern Eichler homes, with many featuring private atriums, glass walls and attached garages. Homebuyers will also find an eclectic collection of split-level, ranch-style and Tudor-style homes, with prices ranging from around $900,000 to $1.5 million. Homes sit on comfortable lots with an average size of about a quarter-acre, and a thick canopy of oak trees offers residents a sense of privacy. “It’s an established neighborhood where you get more for your money since it’s pretty far south in Oakland, farther away from amenities,” says Deidre Joyner, a Realtor with Red Oak Realty who has been selling homes in the area for over 20 years. Further north is the gated Shadow Woods community, where condos range from around $460,000 for a one-bedroom unit to $600,0000 for a two-bedroom. According to the CAP Index, the community has an overall Crime Score of 2.
