Although Benson’s dining scene is a huge draw for the area, you don’t have to head that way to find a place to eat. These places are clustered around North 90th Street:
Everett’s, a family-owned restaurant known for its saucy wings and homemade desserts

The Waiting Room Lounge, a live music venue serving craft beer and cocktails, anchors the nightlife scene. “The location is pretty unbeatable,” Huber says. “You can walk to places in Benson, which you can’t do in the western parts of Omaha. You have all the restaurants and nightlife a few blocks away, which is a huge draw.”

How Benson Gardens compares to nearby neighborhoods
If you’d prefer to be right in the thick of the action, homes in Benson sell at roughly the same prices you’ll find here. However, a lot of the housing stock dates to the early 1900s, which could contribute to higher maintenance and upkeep costs. Keystone, the neighborhood to the north, offers plenty of midcentury houses, but the median sale price is slightly higher, and not every home is within walking distance of Benson. Farther south, Dundee draws buyers with its historic homes and popular pubs, but home prices are significantly higher down there.

Getting around Omaha from Benson Gardens
While the neighborhood offers convenient access to shopping and dining, you’ll probably need a car for commuting. Several Omaha Metro bus routes serve the neighborhood, but most people drive. Maple Street links commuters to Downtown Omaha and nearby employment centers, about 6 miles away. Another of the neighborhood’s perks is that it’s about 4 miles from the shopping and entertainment in Aksarben-Elmwood Park, and the Keystone Trail provides a direct route, allowing cyclists to make the trip in about 25 to 30 minutes.
