Ranch-style and split-level homes on generous lots with shaded yards
Most of the homes you’ll find in this residential neighborhood are ranch-style or split-level houses built in the 1960s and ’70s. A few townhomes are available, too. Property sizes are generous by city standards. Most lots are about a quarter to a third of an acre, with paved driveways, attached two-car garages and shaded yards. “The lay of the land is so non-Nebraska, meaning that it’s sloping and hills and nature,” says Camilla Knapp, a real estate agent with Keller Williams who has 12 years of local experience. Bear in mind that while the area is mostly quiet, traffic noise can affect the houses closest to the interstate. Fortunately, most are far enough away to keep it from being a serious problem.

Casual restaurants and grocery stores are within easy reach
The atmosphere at The Cabin Bar & Grill is exactly what you’d expect from a place with a name like that: a log cabin with a vaulted ceiling and flat-screen TVs hanging from the beams. The menu is all about the pub grub, and the hand-cut onion rings are a standout. Nearby Alpine Inn is a chicken restaurant that capitalizes on its leftovers by leaving the bones outside to attract raccoons. “People go there for the raccoons,” Knapp says. Chain restaurants and stores like Target and PetSmart cluster around the intersection of Sorensen Parkway and 72nd Street, about 2 miles away. For groceries, Baker’s and Family Fare Supermarket are also within a couple of miles.
