Bordered by three of Orem’s main roads, Suncrest is the obvious option for families who need affordable housing and want easy access to the rest of the city; but this area is much more than a convenient location. “Suncrest is a quiet family-oriented neighborhood, but it also has a lot things you can’t find anywhere else in Orem,” says Emerie Brooks, Listing Manager at

Summit Realty Inc. Home to some of Orem’s most unique amenities, Suncrest is a gem hiding in plain sight.

Like most Orem neighborhoods, many houses in Suncrest date back to the 1900s; however, prices here fall within a lower range. You’ll likely need to invest in renovations, but you can also design the home you want without having to build from the ground up. Some houses have already received significant updates like new roofs, carpet, granite countertops and backsplash. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms cover between 1,800 and 2,500 square feet and come with a price tag ranging from $420,000 to $690,000. Homes between $700,000 and $960,000 are either custom builds or well-maintained homes that have undergone extensive indoor and outdoor remodeling. Acreage is common among these rare finds, and up to seven bedrooms and five bathrooms are spread across 2,800 to 4,300 square feet.

Beloved Suncrest Elementary School is the centerpiece of your community. With little through-traffic, parents feel comfortable with their kids walking to school along subdivision sidewalks. Orem Junior High is one mile north and Mountain View High is a quarter mile south. Plan extra time in your morning commute; both schools are located along two of Orem’s main roads.

Kids in Suncrest enjoy direct access to exclusive amenities. Geneva Park is where you’ll find Utah County’s only two Real Salt Lake futsal courts. The red and blue courts are inspired by the state’s MLS team and give an extra boost of energy to athletes playing this fast-paced variation of soccer. Differently sized slides and swings make room for big kids and toddlers, and covered picnic tables and barbeque pits are perfect for sunny days with no plans. Drop down the half pipe or grind on rails at the Orem Skate Park. Teens into extreme sports can challenge themselves to take on additional concrete obstacles like stairs and ramps.

Orem Community Hospital promotes wellness in more ways than one. Youth soccer fields, adult frisbee leagues, a paved waking path and massive community garden are all part of the hospital’s 30-acre campus. Neighbors from across Orem and Vineyard grow fresh produce on nearly 50 raised beds, and pediatric occupational therapists teach kids how to work in the garden. Orem Community is also a popular choice for expecting mothers; the hospital regularly ranks in the top one percentile nationwide for labor and delivery services.

Interstate-15 and State Street give direct access to a variety of shopping centers and grocery stores. Hop on I-15 and arrive at Wal-Mart Supercenter in less than two and a half miles; continue along University Parkway and find big box retailers like Hobby Lobby, Lowe’s and T.J. Maxx. Follow State Street South for an alternate route; Smith’s Grocery, the Orem Public Library and Target are all at your fingertips. Continue South and hit Costco, Trader Joe’s and University Place; more than 150 stores and dozens of restaurants are waiting for you at Orem’s shopping mall.

Most restaurants line State Street, but drive to the west side of Suncrest and find local favorite 5 Star BBQ. The restaurant aims to recreate “smoky goodness that takes you back to happy backyard gatherings.” Daily specials put a twist on 5 Star BBQ’s traditional menu. Pop in on a Wednesday and try the brisket tacos: three tortillas topped with pickled red onions, Cotija cheese, cilantro and chipotle cream sauce.

Stay active at Planet Fitness Gym or load your kids in the car and head down to the Orem Family Fitness Center. In addition to the gym, amenities like a bouldering wall, indoor playground, teen lounge and pool earn this facility a reputation as Utah’s largest fitness center. Immerse yourself in the arts at the Hale Center Theater. Main and Youth Stage productions like The Music Man and James and the Giant Peach are part of the 2023 season. A new theater is being built up the road in Pleasant Grove, but productions and various classes are still being held in Orem while construction continues.

Exclusive amenities in addition to affordable housing; Suncrest offers more than the obvious fast access to popular parts of Orem. To residents, their neighborhood is its own destination.
