Plaza Park is the heart of downtown Oxnard and hosts popular events, like the Downtown Oxnard Farmers Market. Folks flock to the Market every Thursday to collect the region's best produce. Commute on Route 101
Commuters can drive just 3 miles up the road to merge onto Route 101 for their morning drive. Santa Barbara is a 37-mile drive up the coast, and downtown Los Angeles is 62 miles south. The drive to LA typically takes about an hour and 40 minutes, but heavy traffic through the San Fernando Valley can add a decent amount of time. The Oxnard Transit Center also offers a 2-hour train to downtown LA. Locals might also work down the road at Port Hueneme Naval Base or seaport, just 5 miles south. Point Mugu Naval Air Station is 9 miles down the coast. Residents often walk or drive around this part of town, but there are bus stops around the city.
