River Bend
Well-built homes from the 1980s
River Bend was primarily developed throughout the 1980s, so its homes have been around for a few decades. Each home has its own flair; a few are mid-century modern homes or ranch styles, while others are entirely custom to the original owner. However, buyers will commonly find homes with low-slung pitched or hipped roofs that provide stability to the home. Most homes in the neighborhood have rear-entry garages accessible from back alleys, giving residents added privacy. Homes in River Bend are spacious, typically offering at least 2,000 square feet with four bedrooms. Lot sizes often range between a quarter and half-acre, featuring manicured front lawns and in-ground pools in the backyard. Sidewalks line the streets, offering walkability for residents in River Bend. Housing prices range anywhere between $350,000 to $700,000.Plano Independent Schools
Kids growing up in the area attend schools served by the Plano Independent School District, which earned an impressive A-plus on Niche. Children kickstart their education at Saigling Elementary, which has a student-to-teacher ratio of 11-to-1 and an overall A on Niche. Students progress to Haggard Middle School, which got an overall B-plus. Students head to Plano Senior High School to earn their diplomas. Cheyenne Park is the neighborhood hub for sports. "The park has a ton of activities for the kids," Beitchman says. "Plus, there's a sports game every weekend." This community park is behind Saigling Elementary and has three baseball and five soccer fields. Local sports organizations use the fields to host practices and games. There is also a 0.6-mile walking path surrounding the fields and a playground for kids to explore. The nearby Plano Aquatic Center is another popular spot for community recreation. This facility includes a 25-yard indoor lap pool and an outdoor spray ground. The Aquatic Center can hold events like birthday parties and family reunions or offer a relaxed respite from the Texas heat. The center also offers swimming lessons throughout the year.Running errands on Coit Road
Coit Road is River Bend’s most accessible commercial strip, flanked by retail and restaurant pockets where locals run errands or grab dinner. Park West Plaza is among Coit Road’s commercial buzz, featuring an Aldi, an Ace Mart Restaurant Supply and a few restaurant options. Across the street from Park West Plaza is Park Pavilion Center, another shopping center anchored by Z.TAO Marketplace. The popular international market has a diverse seafood selection and various Asian fruits and vegetables. For dinner, residents grab a table at Country Burger. This casual restaurant serves sandwiches and fries in a dining room decked in western décor. In addition to burgers, locals also enjoy chicken fried steak sandwiches and cheese fries. Residents also rave over the bubble tea at BobaGuru, the ramen at Yatai Ramen Japanese Izakaya and the rolls at Yukihana Revolving Sushi.Navigating Dallas
River Bend’s central location along Coit Road makes it easy to get to the President George Bush Turnpike for any trip east or west throughout the Metroplex. Park Boulevard takes locals to Highway 75, offering a straight shot into downtown Dallas, about 22 miles south. Healthcare is provided at Medical City Hospital, located along the community’s southern edge. The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is about 23 miles away.
