It's this small green space in the middle of the city that's also a winery," Pannell says. The establishment is a hotspot for brunch with friends on the weekend or enjoying live music in an outdoor, dog-friendly environment. Nearby is the city's first dog park bar, Ruff Canine Club. Antique shops, boutiques and tattoo parlors are scattered throughout Scott's Addition. Convenience stores, like Scott's Provisions Market, are open late. The neighborhood mostly consists of apartment buildings. However, row homes and condominiums often leave the market around 16 days, compared to the national average of 42. "There's a higher price point in Scott's Addition than the rest of the city. Anything larger than a one-bedroom condo can list over $400,000," Pannell says. Multi-story housing developments are being built in the area to meet the growing demands. Some newer constructions include a condo community inside Madson Yards. While green space is limited, Scott's Addition residents can visit Rosemoore Pocket Park on the corner of West Moore Street and Roseneath Road. In the nearby Diamond Park, baseball enthusiasts can watch a game played by the MLB team Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels or the Virginia Commonwealth University's Rams. Shamrock The Block comes to the intersection of Broad and Leigh Streets every March, and festivalgoers can enjoy food, music and beer. Parking can be a challenge in the neighborhood. Although Scott's Addition is considered walkable to the local bars and cafes, other sections are known not to have sidewalks. Commuters get in and out of the community along Interstates 95, 64 and local thoroughfares. There are also GRTC bus routes available.Crime
The neighborhood has a CAP Index crime score of 9, compared to the national average of 4. The crime score is driven by a higher-than-average score for property crimes. The City of Richmond made infrastructure improvements in Scott's Addition in 2023. This included additional streetlights and curb extensions to improve safety and accommodate growth. The area is slated for more improvements in the coming years.
