Arden Park
Private yards big enough for inground pools
Ranches and ramblers from the middle of the century are abundant in Arden Park, with a median price of $885,000. Houses range from $525,000 for an old villa that needs some love to $1.5 million for recently renovated two-story homes on large plots with private pools and pristine landscaping. Brick facades and earth-toned Mediterranean revivals contribute to the neighborhood's variety, sitting under established spruce, palm, and maple trees. Though the neighborhood has shy of 2,000 houses, the yards remain more generous than many Sacramento districts. Locals take advantage of their shaded space with in-ground pools, seating areas with firepits and the occasional private tennis court.Miles of riverfront running and biking trails
The namesake park in town is where the residents of Arden Park regularly gather. Arden Park has tennis courts, a basketball court, a playground, a baseball diamond and a swimming pool for locals. The American River runs south of the neighborhood and is bordered by the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail. Running alongside the river under shady tall trees, the trail spans 32 miles and is the go-to spot for joggers and bikers in the area.Organized events through the neighborhood association
The Arden Park Neighborhood Association operates out of the park's community center, which hosts an extensive list of programs and events. An adult kickball league and men's softball league bring in residents for friendly competition, while events draw the community together to bond through paint parties, wine and beer tastings and trivia nights. Residents can attend the many gatherings organized by the Arden Park Neighborhood Association every year. The Fall Festival covers classic fall activities like pumpkin picking, and the Easter Eggstravaganza allows kids to hunt for eggs before taking a photo with the Easter Bunny. Movie nights, musical performances and a car show fill the other weekends of the year.Sophisticated French dining next to the best tacos in town
Convenient grocery shopping exists at the neighborhood's northeast corner, with a Whole Foods Market and a Bel Air sharing an intersection. Traveling west on Arden Way, people can find national retailers, fast-food chains, car dealerships and home goods stores. Plan B Restaurant is the in-town destination for those wanting sophisticated French dining at reasonable prices. The restaurant has six different styles of mussels and daily specials like escargot, pheasant and short ribs. With three locations in California, Mas Taco Bar at the Arden Town Center has the bragging rights for being the best tacos in the area. They offer a wide variety of unconventional tacos, some of which include pork belly, Korean fried chicken or fried oysters.Schools so close that some students can walk there
There are two schools in the Arden Park neighborhood — Mariemont Elementary and Arden Middle School. Mariemont Elementary School serves kids in kindergarten through the fifth grade and is rated an A-minus by Niche.com. Arden Middle School is walkable for some residents and is rated a B-plus. Rio Americano High School is where many students round out their education. The A-minus-rated school has a robust athletics program with over 15 sports for students.Getting around Arden Park
