Rapidly growing lakefront community with local restaurants
Downtown Saint Cloud earns its name from its grid-like leafy streets, touting names like Massachusetts and New York Avenue. The lakefront community is in the heart of the rapidly growing city of St. Cloud and brushes the shore of East Lake Tohopekaliga. In just 20 years, well over 35,000 people have moved to St. Cloud, leading to new businesses, buzzing local events and an in-demand housing market. “The area has grown immensely in the past few years, and houses sell pretty quickly,” says Realtor Matt MacNab of Olympus Executive Realty. MacNab has lived in Osceola County his whole life and has sold homes for 21 years. “We’ve got a good mix of people. You really get a small-town feel with all the appeal of a bigger city.”
Catfish, coffee and crops
Downtown Saint Cloud has a small, growing town center with many new restaurants and one-stop shops cropping among long-standing locally-owned businesses. Locals looking for a pick-me-up enjoy coffees with specialty flavors like honey bee and salty mocha at Madilynn’s Craft Coffee Shop. Or, they walk over to Loading Gastrobrunch for bottomless mimosas and classic breakfast dishes like hashes, waffles and biscuits n’ gravy. With the phrase “where the local folks eat,” it makes sense that The Catfish Place is a popular spot for dinner. The restaurant serves freshly caught catfish, snapper, lobster and cod. “The Catfish Place has been around for years and is a community staple,” MacNab says. At 10th Street Produce, the menu offers sandwiches, soups and salads made from locally sourced produce and crops. When locals need a big-box grocer, they head to Walmart Supercenter, Publix or Aldi, all a mile away.

Holiday celebrations and monthly markets
While Lake Toho is home to ample bass fishing tournaments, various community events welcome more than just the local angler. Locals enjoy the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at St. Cloud City Hall at the beginning of December. Residents enjoy live music, games for children, crafts and snow slides. St. Cloud hosts a dynamic fireworks show at Lakefront Park on the Fourth of July. Locals enjoy monthly events like the Downtown St. Cloud Monthly Market. On the last Wednesday of each month, residents flock downtown for handmade crafts, homemade snacks, baked goods and much more.
Established homes and grid streets
Homes were primarily built between the 1950s and ‘70s. Most houses are single-story designs, including ranch-styles and bungalows on lots between a quarter and half-acre. Several homes have at least three bedrooms and 1,500 square feet, with price tags commonly between $200,000 and $500,000. Many residents have pools, fenced yards and finely manicured lawns with sprouting palm trees and mossy oaks. Homes along East Lakeshore Boulevard have direct views of East Lake Toho, and residents can quickly walk along the sidewalk-lined streets to Lakefront Park.

Where locals hit the water
Lakefront Park is the community’s outdoor respite, meeting East Lake Toho’s marshy southern fringes. Locals walk to Lakefront Park to enjoy amenities like a waterfront playground, a fishing pier and a sandy beach area. Additional amenities include a 2-mile bike path and a sand volleyball court. The park also features a marina, so boaters and anglers have a spot to launch. East Lake Toho is a prime location for bass fishing and is often host to tournaments. If residents aren’t on the water fishing, they’re kayaking, canoeing or catching wind on an airboat. And during the summer, the splash pad buzzes with local families. Cannery Park, another gathering space, features an accessible playground, covered pavilions and park benches.

Commuting to Orlando
