Visitors can ride their bikes along the Railroad Trail, which runs 3 miles south to River Bluffs Regional Park. Railroad Park on 11th Avenue also offers a traditional park experience and access to the trail. Nearby recreation includes Calvary Hill Park’s popular sledding hills, less than a half-mile west, and Lake George Park’s year-round opportunities three blocks north. According to Mary Ellen Richter, the park attracts locals from around the city. “There are walking paths, and people will kayak on the lake and ice skate in the winter,” says Mary Ellen Richter, a local real estate broker with Kerber Castle Realty Group.

The community’s residential landscape showcases high-reaching oak trees, which turn front yards orange in fall. Homes built throughout the 20th century sit back from streets with a patchwork of repaved asphalt. Crossroads Center’s indoor retailers are also along the busy stretch. “It’s not as popular as it used to be, but everyone still goes there to shop.” The Division Street corridor includes a Walmart, Costco and the Crossroads Center, a shopping mall that remains anchored by a Macy’s, JCPenney and Scheels sporting goods store. Coburn’s Grocery Store sits closer to home, directly north on the other side of University Drive South.

St. Cloud State University’s Herb Brooke National Hockey Center is on the university campus.
