Hayes Valley is an urban neighborhood mostly full of condos and attached single-family homes. Some condos are placed along busy streets with wide sidewalks, while others, along with most of the neighborhood’s single-family homes, are situated on quieter side streets with small sidewalks. As is typical in San Francisco, four- to five-level Edwardian condominium buildings are Hayes Valley's most common architectural residential buildings. However, there are a few clusters of old single-family vintage Tudors and Queen Anne Victorians. Single-family homes range from $1.5 million to $3.6 million, while condos can go as low as $450,000 for a very small 1-bedroom condo and up to $2.7 million for a luxury-style condo with four bedrooms and amenities such as a pool and a workout center.Pocket parks and colorful athletic courts
Hayes Valley has a few destinations for outdoor recreation right within the neighborhood, including the Hayes Valley Playground. This small spot on Hayes Street features a safely fenced-in playground with multiple climbing structures specifically designed for younger children. The site also features fitness equipment for outdoor exercise and is attached to a colorful, mural-painted-floor basketball court and tennis court. Another more urban park is Patricia’s Green, featuring a central green space encircled by a paved stone walking path. Residents can sit and rest on one of the numerous benches and seating areas to enjoy an outdoor lunch break or walk along the tree-lined park to observe the many rotating art exhibits and installations displayed around the site. There are often juice and coffee station pop-ups along the park's border, giving more reason for residents to stop and hang out for a while.Longstanding annual events along Hayes Street
There’s always something going on in Hayes Valley throughout the year for residents to take part in. Each April, the neighborhood’s streets get blocked off for the Hayes Valley Spring Wine Walk. Locals can stroll along Hayes Street to sample a diverse selection of regional and international wines while shopping at numerous local business vendors. The summer season brings the annual HEAD WEST event, which showcases an extensive outdoor marketplace of emerging and established local brands at Patricia’s Green. Attendees can shop for all kinds of unique, unique items, from locally sourced vintage items to hand-made ceramics and jewelry. To kick off the Christmas season, the Hayes Valley Holiday Stroll has been a neighborhood tradition for over 33 years. Locals can walk along Hayes Street listening to live music while taking in the festive light displays and decorated store windows. The event also features entertainment performers, in-store shopping specials and family-friendly activities from face painting to photo-ops with the “Sugar Plum Ferry.”Public schools with Biotechnology programs
