The community’s prime residential area is located in the southern part of the neighborhood, whereas a more commercial and industrial sector resides within the northern portion. Along the residential streets are primarily mid-century and traditional ranch-styles and a few split-level homes. Most homes were built in the 1950s, although there are a few more significant, two-level modern and contemporary properties that were built in the past decade. Short driveways lead to two-car garages, and many homes feature back patios and pools. Paved sidewalks line the streets, perfect for an afternoon stroll or walking to nearby retailers. This popular local eatery has served comfort food in the San Leandro area since 1984. Big box stores like Walmart and Foodmaxx are located at the neighborhood's southern border. For more shopping, the trendy Marina Square Center is at the northern tip of Floresta-Gardens-Bradrick. The neighborhood is home to the expansive Burrell Field stadium, where local area high schools and little leagues play football and baseball. Floresta Park, off Monterey Boulevard, is an open green space featuring grassy fields, a baseball diamond and basketball courts. It also has two playgrounds that include slides and a popular zipline. Washington Manor Park is just outside the neighborhood across Interstate 880 to the west. It offers pickleball and tennis courts, shaded walking paths, picnic areas and a modern playground. Floresta Gardens-Bradrick is about three miles from the San Francisco Bay, with places like the shoreline Marina Park looking out at the bay and the San Leandro Marina. Interstate 880 borders the western side of the neighborhood. It is a major highway for traveling outside the city and into popular destinations like Oakland, just 11 miles away. This highway also connects to Interstate 80, which leads into San Francisco. Multiple public bus stops are located within the neighborhood, and the San Leandro BART station is conveniently located just outside the neighborhood for traveling or commuting by light rail. The San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport is about six miles north, while the prominent Kaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center is less than two miles west.Public schools with dual enrollment classes
Students may attend Monroe Elementary School, which gets a B-rating from Niche, followed by the B-rated John Muir Middle School. Also rated B, San Leandro High School has the school district’s extensive college and career center on-site and offers dual enrollment classes in partnership with nearby Chabot College.
