Silicon Valley city with close access to Google and Apple
Located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Santa Clara County, Saratoga is a quiet community near the major tech companies of Silicon Valley. “The main reason someone would move there is proximity to the tech industry with Google, Apple and more right there,” says Olesia Woodward of Intero Real Estate Services, who has a decade of experience in the area. “But with the mountains right there and so many trails running through the city, you don’t necessarily feel like you are in a tech hub.” Besides its location near the mountains and some of the biggest tech companies in the world, Saratoga also offers a variety of housing styles, top-rated schools and access to fine dining. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Saratoga had just under 30,000 residents in 2023.

Modern Craftsman homes in the millions
Single-family homes in Saratoga have a median price of $4.2 million. “There are a few condos, but it’s almost all single-family homes in the area and the lots are larger than you’ll find in most surrounding cities,” says Lisa Sgarlato of Compass Realty, who has over 15 years of experience in the area. “It’s really beautiful architecture and well-kept tree-lined streets.” Modern Craftsman homes, ranch-style builds from the turn of the century and massive mansions with over 6,500 square feet from the 2000s are all available. “You can live in Quito Village or The Golden Triangle and it’ll feel more suburban, but there’s also plenty of seclusion closer to the mountains,” says Sgarlato. Woodward adds that prices in Saratoga are typically 10-15% higher than similar surrounding cities because of lot sizes.
