For delicious soul food, locals swing by Sisters of the New South, a family-owned restaurant serving Southern classics like fried chicken, barbecue ribs and smothered shrimp and grits with sides like okra and collard greens. At Geneva’s Famous Chicken and Cornbread, locals enjoy soul food with a kick, with dishes like shrimp po’boys and Cajun fried turkey wings. Avondale residents shop along Victory Drive and Wallin Street in Victory Heights. Local artists and entrepreneurs sell their wares at VENDORS ON VICTORY, and residents can also find big box stores like Target and Whole Foods for everyday essentials.
