Madrona’s main thoroughfare of 34th Avenue, which runs through the heart of the neighborhood and crosses with East Union Street creates a vibrant and quaint retail intersection that is lined with many locally owned shops and tasty eateries. Children living in Madrona won’t have to travel far to get to class with Madrona Elementary School located in the heart of the community. Madrona, and the surrounding schools in the area, are all part of the Seattle Public Schools District, meaning students will likely have the same classmates as they move on to Edmond S. Meany Middle School, then Garfield High School, which offers students various clubs, activities and athletics, ranging from a Model UN club to a robotics program. All schools earn a B-plus or higher from Niche. Students can begin their post-secondary education at Seattle University, which is about a mile and a half away. Seattle U is a progressive Jesuit Catholic private institution, founded in 1891 and serves over 7,000 on its 50-acre campus.

There is an abundance of outdoor adventures to is ingrained in the culture of the city.” One of the parks to which Schulkin is referring is Madrona Park, an expansive lakefront area that provides a scenic look at Mount Rainier. On the grounds is Madrona Park Beach, ideal for taking a dip in the lake and relaxing with a picnic on the expansive green space. The park features a lakeside jogging path to get in daily steps, and early risers can head to the Madrona View Point along Lake Washington Boulevard to catch stunning mountain vistas from this undisturbed vantage. There are also outdoor spaces along 34th Avenue, including Madrona Playground, where parents can take their children for a quick afternoon outing.
