Architecture features mostly ranch-style, split-level and traditional homes

Most Shawnee homes were built during the post-war building boom, and ranch-style and split-level homes are common. Many have attached, front-facing garages at the end of private driveways. “You have more of the older homes in the eastern part, and the western part of town has newer subdivisions,” says Lisa Miller, a realtor and associate broker with Lynch Real Estate.

The median list price is around $410,000, which is on par with the national median. “It’s one of the most affordable areas in Johnson County,” Miller says. “You have everything you need right here, and it’s close to everything.”
