Walnut Creek district with a bustling central transit village

Contra Costa Centre is a mixed residential and commercial district centered around an expansive planned transit village. This walkable center village is home to local businesses, restaurants, shops and primarily multi-family residences — all located next to the Pleasant Hill Bay Area Transit Station (BART). Most of Contra Costa Centre’s single-family homes are located further outside the village, but the neighborhood’s central offerings are still easily accessible to all residents. “The concept of Contra Costa Centre has always been — work here, live here and get anywhere you need to go on public transportation,” says Lynnette L. Busby, the current executive director of this unique central village. Other area perks include trail connections, parks and Walnut Creek’s coveted public school district. “The school system is absolutely one of the biggest reasons people move here,” says Shiela Eggers, a Realtor with Windermere Diablo Realty and a long-time resident of the area.
