South Wilmington is a small industrial neighborhood on a low-lying peninsula along the Christina River. Separated from the rest of the city, South Wilmington is surrounded by manufacturing plants and borders one of the largest shipping ports in the country. Meanwhile, a larger and older American Foursquare costs between $100,000 to $200,000 in South Wilmington.

Southbridge Wetland Park is an award-winning green infrastructure
In 2022, Southbridge Wetland Park was built to provide residents with a new outdoor amenity and reduce neighborhood flooding. This award-winning green infrastructure features an ADA-accessible boardwalk that passes through 30 acres of freshwater tidal marshes and other natural habitats. Children can swing at the Barbara Hicks Playground or shoot hoops with friends on the basketball courts at Eden Park. Free meals at Christina public schools
South Wilmington students attend Christina public schools. All first through eighth graders at The Bayard School receive free breakfast and lunch daily, regardless of family income levels.
