The listing agent for an estate built as a designer showhouse to commemorate the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's 75th anniversary is looking for a specific type of buyer.
In fact, she's seeking "a really particular person who appreciates contemporary architecture," Debra Johnston of Coldwell Banker Realty said in an interview. "It almost feels like new construction."
The home was started in 2019, the same year the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra kicked off its 75th anniversary celebrations.
The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home at 2716 Ridgewood Road in Atlanta's tony Buckhead area is listed for $5.8 million, according to Homes.com. The three-level residence built by ADCO Builders and Harrison Design specifically for the lot has an elevator, sunken living room and a design with optimal east-to-west exposure that fills "the interiors with natural light at every turn," the listing states.

Luxury homes often sell for cash. Still, a buyer who puts 20% down and qualifies for a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage at 6.87% would pay nearly $30,500 a month in principal and interest, according to Homes.com data.
The 1.1 acre lot bordering the Chattahoochee River is adjacent to protected land and a park known as Standing Fort Peachtree. The exterior of the nearly 7,000-square-foot home is covered with Meridian brick and black reflective wall panels. There's also a water feature, koi ponds, a 65-foot-long pool, a glass pivoting front door and three glass garage doors.
"I love the pool," Johnston said. "It's central to the house. It's in view from most of the rooms."
Design Galleria designed the kitchen featuring custom cabinets, a 15-foot island with Temmer marble and a hidden, walk-in pantry, according to the listing. A fireplace adorns the family room that opens to a covered patio.
The lower level is ideal for entertaining, with a bar and a home theater, according to the listing. Two guest suites open to the pool.
The master bedroom features floor-to-ceiling glass, separate dressing rooms, an outdoor patio and a study with a morning kitchen. Upstairs are two additional bedroom suites and a second laundry room.

The home is in western Buckhead's Paces Civic Association, a neighborhood with minimum one- or two-acre lot sizes, depending on the location. Owners there have torn down older ranch-style homes and rebuilt larger properties, changing the face of the area, according to Johnston.
"Property values continue to increase, and the homes continue to get larger because of all the land you get," she said.
While secluded, Paces also is close to Buckhead's shopping district and puts residents near the most direct routes to downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, she noted.
The sellers are the original owners and are ready for a new opportunity, according to Johnston. The listing is hitting the market in advance of the spring selling season, and the agent is encouraged by a nearby luxury property going under contract recently for what would be a local benchmark of $16.5 million.
"The market is starting to heat up, and contemporary is getting a lot of attention these days," Johnston said. "People love it."
