Growing real estate brokerage eXp Realty has added a 16-agent firm outside of Atlanta headed by a former mixed martial arts competitor.
In adding the Tim Stout Group of Newnan, Georgia, eXp has expanded its presence with a firm that closed more than $70 million in sales on 208 units in 2024, according to eXp. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Tim Stout left mixed martial arts for real estate sales in 2012, growing a team specializing in sales to high-net-worth investors, the firm said. Maryland real estate agent and entrepreneur Brandon Brittingham introduced Stout to the firm.
"At first, I wasn’t considering a move, but the more I learned, the more it made sense," Stout said in a statement. "Brandon has built an incredible investing business, and proximity to leaders like him is the fastest way for me to grow."
The brokerage’s parent company, eXp World Holdings, is in the middle of a growth period after its agent count fell about 5% from the previous year, eXp Realty CEO Leo Pareja told investors recently. The brokerage says it has nearly 83,000 agents across 25 international locations.
Newnan is city of about 45,000 residents 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. The quality healthcare and top-rated schools draw people looking for a small-town feel in the outskirts of Atlanta, according to Homes.com.
At the end of February, the median single-family home price in Newnan was $395,250, up 2% from a year earlier, according to Homes.com data. Nearly 70% of residents own their homes in Newnan, the data shows.
Aside from mixed martial arts, Stout, who grew up in a 900-square-foot Tennessee home with six siblings, co-founded Apex Predator Training, a self-defense education company.
"Real estate was the perfect fit because it allows me to put in the work and see the results firsthand," he said.
