Luxury builder Camelot Homes expects lots to be scooped up quickly at a new luxury development in Phoenix, where buyers can customize their homes from the jump.
The Scottsdale-based company opened sales this spring at Viridian — an eight-lot, gated community off Bethany Home Road and just minutes from Arizona State Route 51. Camelot's Chief operating officer, Kevin Rosinski, told Homes.com that based on preliminary interest and private tours Camelot has done, he expects all eight lots to sell in about two months of the sales office opening on July 12.
Buyers would purchase a vacant lot and then work with Camelot to build a two-story house with the choice of two floor plans, spanning either 2,713 square feet with a starting price of $1.57 million or 3,003 square feet with a starting price of $1.65 million. Each home comes with three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.
But that's just the template. As buyers finalize their purchase of the lot, they'll work with Camelot's design studio to customize everything inside of the home, from flooring and lighting to the backsplashes and sound.
"You dream it, we'll do it," Rosinski said. "We have a consultant we work with on wine rooms — those have become very popular. So, if there's a personal need, whether you want a fitness room, wine room or home theater, we can help you design, build and install it."
Personalization for different types of households
The site is a rare vacant lot that's sandwiched between built-out homes in Phoenix's Camelback East neighborhood. The median sales price for the Phoenix metropolitan area is $457,000.
The project has been in the works for more than two years, with about six months dedicated to understanding what the neighborhood wanted, followed by a year of entitlements and another year to prep the land for vertical development once a buyer purchases a lot.
Rosinski said the personalization process generally takes about two months, and the buildout will take another 10 months.
Camelot is working with Woodley Architectural Group to design the homes, which come with butterfly roofs. Rosinski said the space in the two-story homes can appeal to multigenerational households, whether that's having adult children live at the home or a family taking care of elderly parents.
"Central Phoenix has a midcentury vibe to it dating back into the 50s," Rosinski said. "We wanted to celebrate that central Phoenix corridor with the exterior architecture."
Camelot is touting a "Fly & Buy" incentive for out-of-state buyers interested in Viridian and other communities. Buyers can be reimbursed up to $5,000 for their round-trip airfare, lodging, and rental car costs if they purchase a home from Camelot by Aug. 31.
