One of the largest homebuilders in the U.S. plans its fifth single-family housing development near the beach and Wilmington, North Carolina.
Dream Finders Homes plans to build 89 homes at Riverlake, near Highway 17 in the hamlet of Supply. It’s a 10-minute drive to Holden Beach and not far from other vacation areas in the state’s southeastern corner. The company began sales earlier this year at Richmond Hills, a 37-house neighborhood along the same road.
“Riverlake is perfect for anyone looking to downsize, relocate, or simply enjoy a quieter life near the coast,” Jonathan Hayward, Dream Finders division president, said in a statement.
The Florida-based company is the nation's 14th-largest homebuilder based on 8,583 sales in 2024, according to Builder magazine, concentrating in the Southeast and a few Western states.
Dream Finders has been active recently in the Wilmington-Myrtle Beach, South Carolina region, where the moving and storage company Pods has ranked as the best place to live in the country for the past three years. Pods cited the area’s affordability, friendliness and access to nature.
The median single-family home price in Supply in June was $361,000, according to Homes.com data, compared to $1.07 million down the road in Holden Beach. The median price overall for Brunswick County was $389,500 in June, according to the Brunswick County Association of Realtors.
The houses in Riverlake are expected to range from three to four bedrooms and 1,500 square feet to 2,430 square feet, with prices starting in the upper $200,000s, according to the statement. It will include a clubhouse, pool and walking trails. Hayward said he expects interest from people who want to live in the neighborhood full-time and second-home buyers.
