A fast-growing Phoenix neighbor is getting a batch of efficient houses built to save owners money, time and the frustration of getting their smart home devices set up.

Landsea Homes announced Monday that it will build 78 houses in a master-planned neighborhood in Maricopa, Arizona. The one- and two-story houses are expected to go on sale this summer.

The residences will have smart home amenities — including entry door locks, thermostat controls and light dimmer switches — that will "make life at home healthier and more comfortable," according to the builder.

To ensure a smoother move, Landsea is collaborating with Best Buy's Geek Squad to install and activate the smart home features to ensure everything is working correctly.

“Homebuyers today have come to expect homes that are responsibly designed and built, the ability to stay connected, a home that is built sustainably and efficiently to save them money in the long term, and overall, just makes living more comfortable,” said Heather Cammiso, Arizona division president of Landsea Homes.

Moreover, the new houses will help owners save on other costs associated with owning a home. The builder said they will have enhanced insulation wall systems and energy-efficient windows that will keep costs down.

“We’ve seen tremendous demand for high-quality, energy-efficient homes in this area,” she said in a statement.

Landsea is just the latest builder to get in on the action in Maricopa. The city — just about 30 miles south of Phoenix — has been among the fastest-growing cities in recent years. In fact, last May, it was ranked as the fifth fastest-growing large city in the country.

Though Landsea has yet to release the cost of these homes, the city’s median single-family house price was about $365,000 in March, according to data from Homes.com. The median price in Phoenix is nearly $500,000.

“Maricopa is a city on the rise, offering an ideal balance of affordability, convenience, and a welcoming atmosphere for homebuyers looking to put down roots,” Cammiso said.
