A two-story home for sale in Temple, Texas, has all the trappings of a sporty property.

The house at 1710 Las Lomas Court has a court where racket sports can be played, a batting cage, swimming pool, outdoor kitchen and home theater, according to the Homes.com listing. The owner, a doctor, custom built the house in 2016 with his then-elementary-school-age children in mind, according to listing agent Jodi Brazeal.

"They wanted to entertain," she said in an interview. "They enjoy sports and wanted to be able to host all the friends."

The house in the Midway neighborhood is listed for $1.55 million after initially hitting the market in October for $1.7 million.

"Now we're definitely where we need to be," Brazeal said of the asking price. "We have sold comps to back it up."

A buyer who pays the current listing price, makes a down payment of 20% and secures a 6.64% mortgage rate would have monthly principal and interest payments of nearly $8,000, according to Homes.com data.

The five-bedroom house is on a cul-de-sac, and the property spans nearly 5 acres, according to the listing. The home has a formal dining room and custom cabinetry with adjustable shelves.

Its main suite has a bathroom with access to private flex space. Three additional bedrooms are located on the second level, along with the theater. An attached, one-bedroom mother-in-law suite has a full kitchen and its own outdoor access.

Brazeal said the home also has hidden conveniences, such as a laundry chute, remote-controlled screens, a nugget icemaker and an instant hot water heater under the kitchen sink.

"So much of it is in the details," she said.

Temple is a city of about 93,000 residents, roughly halfway between San Antonio and Dallas. The city attracts retirees as well as medical personnel who work at the Temple Medical and Educational District.

Despite an abundance of "big box" retail stores, the Midway neighborhood has a small-town feel, with towering oak trees, according to Homes.com. Temple has a mix of ranch-style homes, traditional brick homes and more contemporary properties, with prices ranging from the low $200,000s to more than $1 million.

The Las Lomas buyer will get plenty of space with Interstate 35 access across the state. Brazeal also said she's impressed by the value that Temple offers compared to bigger cities in Texas.

"For sure," she said. "This is $1.55 million instead of $3.7 million down the street."
