A top-producing real estate agent team in North Carolina's Raleigh-Durham market is joining eXp Realty, the nation’s third-largest brokerage.
Tammy Register is bringing 15 agents to the new shop after about a decade at Keller Williams Realty, eXp said in a statement this week. Register’s team was ninth in North Carolina in 2024 among offices with 11 or more agents, with $88 million in sales, according to RealTrends, which ranks the best-performing real estate firms in the U.S. The firm was also third in the state in sales volume at 315 transactions. Each time an agent represents a buyer or seller counts as one transaction.
Register’s move to eXp was two years in the making, according to the statement.
“While we were top performers in our old environment, it often felt like we were building in a vacuum,” Register said. “What we found at eXp was not just a new model, but a new mindset — one that thrives on open collaboration, where every conversation makes you sharper and every idea is a stepping stone.”
Raleigh, the state capital, and Durham are seeing growth due to their location in the Research Triangle, so named for the area’s three major universities — Duke, the University of North Carolina and North Carolina State — and a large high-technology office and industrial park in the area. Raleigh’s median single-family home price was $470,000 in June, according to Homes.com data, while it was $460,000 in Durham. Raleigh’s population was estimated at just under 500,000 as of July 1, the U.S. Census said, up more than 30,000 from 2020.
Leo Pareja, eXp’s chief executive officer, told investors in a recent earnings call that the business is “really focused on attracting the most productive agents and teams. Agents on teams are 67% more productive than just individual agents.”
Pareja said in the statement that Register has the leadership skills and interest in scaling up that the company is looking for.
“Her thoughtful, long-term approach to this move shows she’s not just looking for a brokerage — she’s building a legacy, and we’re honored to be part of that journey,” he said.
