One of the top-producing real estate agents in the Hamptons has joined Compass, the brokerage announced Monday.

Terry Cohen sells a range of homes from Southampton to Amagansett, New York, on Long Island's East End — from $1 million residences to $100 million estates, Compass said in a news release. Cohen has more than $2.5 billion in career sales and oversaw $150 million in transactions in 2024.

Cohen was an agent for Hedgerow Exclusive Properties in Bridgehampton before joining Compass.

"Leaving Hedgerow wasn't an easy decision, but it was met with understanding and goodwill," she said in a statement. “I’m exactly where I want to be in my career, and I view change as an opportunity for growth. We, as brokers, to stay relevant, are constantly evolving through ever-changing markets, so change isn’t scary for me. I actually welcome it."

The Hamptons remain a celebrity hotspot

The Hamptons are known for their celebrity sightings, sandy beaches, and pricey residential real estate: The median home sales price hit a record $2.04 million in the first quarter. Many properties are only a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean, so owning a house there also comes with an increased risk of property damage due to flooding.

Still, some of the nation's biggest actors and entertainers — including Alec Baldwin, Jennifer Lopez, and Gwyneth Paltrow — have homes there. For years, wealthy individuals who bought a home in the Hamptons have used it as a summer vacation spot for their families, but agents say more buyers want a year-round residence in the area.

Cohen said she decided to join Compass because its "expansive network" would help her reach more people. Compass operates more than 500 offices across the U.S. At the end of the first quarter, it had 37,135 agents.

The Hamptons have seen their fair share of agents switch firms this year. Douglas Elliman's Hamptons-based staff added Jon Vaccari earlier this month, along with James Averitt Buttry and William Schumann in May. Elliman also added Agnes Wanielista and Chelsea Redick earlier this year.

Cohen joining Compass is "an ideal partnership" because she has extensive experience in Hamptons real estate, Joe Fuer, Compass' Hamptons managing director, said in a statement.

"It’s a perfect alignment of talent, resources, and shared values," Fuer said. "We're going to have a lot of fun together."
