Traton Homes has hired a veteran developer as executive director of land acquisition to help the company expand its footprint in metropolitan Atlanta and the Gulf Coast.

In the new role, Todd Thrasher is responsible for identifying, acquiring and developing land for future residential projects. He has a background in land acquisition, entitlement, investor relations and development, along with a strong understanding of the Atlanta real estate market, Marietta, Georgia-based Traton said.

Prior to Traton, Thrasher was a managing partner at Brooks Chadwick Capital, where he led a team focused on real estate throughout Georgia and the Southeast.

"Todd’s expertise will be instrumental in securing prime land opportunities that align with our vision of building exceptional communities," Chris Poston, chief operating officer of Traton Homes, said in a statement.

Family-owned Traton was founded 53 years ago. It was the nation's 135th-largest builder based on 338 home sales last year, according to Builder magazine.
