This is the famous Josiah Keene House, a designated city landmark that was moved to Bell Way and restored by Mr.and Mrs. Howard Ranniger. Its shingled mansard roof with projecting windows is unique for Ventura. According to local historical records the home was built in the early 1870's. The widows walk (glass cupola)and side porch no longer remain, as seen in old photos, thereby retaining most of the original charactor of this house. The interior is as can be expected of this style of late 1800s. High ceilings, large pocket doors in the parlor and dining areas. Wooden staircases provide access to the three bedrooms on the second level. On the rear of the home has been added a large family room area. The kitchen remains hisorically intact along with a vintage cook range that is included. This home is a collectors dream.
