With limited market availability and aggressive competition in prime zip codes, real estate has entered a new era! It is not easy to get what you are looking for even if you are financially prepared. My wife and I were looking for specific metrics (location, size, price, etc.) in our journey of buying a property. Barry Dantagnan is a SPECTACULAR realtor. We needed our house sold in challenging market conditions with erratic interest rates on the heels of an entertainment industry strike. Barry not only got it done quickly, but he exceeded all our expectations. He provided us clear instruction on what to do to put ourselves in the best position to be successful; he set reasonable expectations; and got the job done.

There are countless realtors in the Los Angeles area. But I’d wager that few (if any) have the breadth of experience and sophistication that Barry has. And in a challenging market, experience matters. Barry also has a tremendous work ethic. When we discussed the listing price for our home, he rattled off (from memory) virtually every listed house in the area to support his recommendation. He has also sold and/or represented buyers in countless residential real estate transactions throughout Los Angeles county (some more than once!). Barry is, plain and simple, the best real estate agent you could ask for. His integrity, judgement and negotiating skills are unparalleled in my opinion. My wife and I worked him over the past few months to sell our home in Sherman Oaks and buy a larger home in Encino. His knowledge of those neighborhoods and adjacent markets really gave us a leg up as he was able to use good comps to negotiate better pricing on both transactions. His decades of experience and contacts helped us get more get more interest when selling our property than we would have otherwise gotten. We moved to LA in 2019 from the East Coast, we immediately fell in love with California and decided to look for a home to purchase. But, searching for a house during the pandemic was a nightmare. We had another agent, based on the westside, but decided to focus our home search to the Valley. After loosing out on several homes with our original agent, one of our friends gave us the best advice, you need an agent that is an expert in the area where you are looking to purchase. I did a quick Google search and found Barry, his reviews were outstanding. After a phone conversation we realized that we had mutual friends! We knew he would be a great fit for us, in the Valley there is no better expert than Barry.

After interviewing a few agents, we hired Barry to sell our house in Tarzana. We had a wonderful experience with Barry from start to finish. Barry made some small suggestions that made our house more appealing to buyers and we ultimately went into escrow with an all cash buyer within 10 days of putting the house on the market. Barry is very knowledgeable in all aspects of real estate and he knows most of the other brokers that work the valley. Barry is absolutely an amazing person and simply the best real estate agent. He came highly recommended by our very good friends. They were not kidding when they said that if anyone could sell our house, it would be Barry. Our house had been sitting on the market before and there just wasn’t any interest so we pulled it off the market. When we decided to put it back on the market, I totally expected to get the usual negative comments about how outdated it was from any prospective agents. Many agents that we spoke with said we should lower our expectations as far as pricing was concerned. All they could point out to us were the negative features of our house. Barry came in with his very positive and relaxed attitude and assured us that there is a customer for every style. He saw the many positive features our house had to offer. He suggested a listing price that was very attractive to us. He gave us great advice on how to stage the house using (or in many cases NOT using) our own furniture. Sure enough, he had a cash offer on the table for us before we even had our first open house! We ended up going into escrow and in a couple of weeks, our house was sold!!! Before I start this review on Barry, a little background information on myself. I have been a licensed real estate broker for almost 40 years. However, I spent a good portion of my career in the lending and insurance industries, so I didn’t have the market experience nor time to sell my mom’s home in Sherman Oaks. With that being the case, I was determined to interview and select the best agent in Sherman Oaks to market the home my mom had owned for 60 years. I wanted a realtor that we could trust that had impeccable credential, ethics and integrity. We interviewed multiple agents and selected Barry for his experience, market knowledge (nobody knows the Sherman Oaks market better than Barry), professionalism and straight forward sincere personality.

From start to finish, we listed and closed escrow on mom’s home in about 90 days. During the entire listing, the home was vacant, and Barry promised to keep a close eye on the house as we were too far away to do so. True to his word, Barry handled everything from holding open houses every weekend, to watering the roses, meeting repair guys and putting water in the swimming pool. Talk about going above and beyond!

Throughout the whole process, Barry did a fantastic job of communicating with us, so we always knew what was happening. More importantly, he made a point of being at every showing whenever another realtor wanted to show the house to a prospective buyer. This enabled him to solicit valuable feedback and build rapport with prospective buyers. Where Barry really excelled was in guiding us through the myriad of offers we received. Barry’s experience really showed as he was able to talk us through the offers and help us negotiate with prospective buyers. That also includes, Barry quickly sifting through the low-ball offers that lacked any merit.

Thankfully, escrow closed last Tuesday, and we are done stressing out over the sale of mom’s house. BTW, you should know, Barry remained cool, calm, collected and stress free throughout the entire process. There is just a calm about Barry that told us we were in good hands the whole time.

Honestly, if you are looking for an experienced real estate professional, who is a pleasure to deal with and who will look after your best interests like you are family, Barry is your only choice. On a scale of 10 I give him a 12. Before you list your home or contact another agent to represent you in finding a home, do yourself a favor and meet with Barry. I promise you won’t regret it and you will be glad you did!

First time buyers over here! We met Barry at an open house and immediately were drawn in by his calm, cool and collected demeanor. It was very evident he was an expert in the neighborhood we were looking to buy in. Although we ended up not being interested in the house we met him at, we knew we wanted Barry to be our buying agent when we did find a home we wanted to move forward with.
