Hi, my name is Andrew Alkema, and I am a Licensed Realtor® at Keller Williams Property Team (DRE #02135815). After a 6-year career presiding over Bear Creek Properties (founded 2015) and helping the company buy and sell multiple properties, I decided to make the full-time leap into real estate sales.
I have lived in Merced for most of my life, only leaving to attend college. Despite going to a school in San Diego, I always knew that Merced was my home and a place I wanted my future to be, and fortunately when I moved home, I met my wife, Lexi. When I decided that she was “the one”, I bought the ring and then planned an elaborate proposal. We went to Napa for her birthday and had planned to do a hot air balloon ride on one of the mornings. I called the company in advance and let them know I wanted to propose, asking if they could assist me. They said they could unfurl a banner as the hot air balloon lifted off the ground, with the standard “Will you marry me?” message. So, as they did that, I told Lexi, “Look, someone is being proposed to!” And she looked at the commotion on the ground and when she turned back to me, I was on one knee (she said yes). I think this story is worth noting because it demonstrates that I am thoughtful and enjoy going above and beyond!
Another thing I enjoy is helping Merced grow as a community, which is why I served multiple terms on the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce (winning ambassador of the year in 2017) as well as currently serving on the board of the premier private economic development group—Merced Boosters. In addition to these service positions, I volunteer at Love INC and with the Merced Rescue Mission.
When I am not catering to my amazing clients, I focus on spending time with my wife, Lexi, and our two dogs, Ryker and Daisy. Lexi and I love to travel to new places and spend time at our family cabin. I also thoroughly enjoy golfing with my buddies, snowboarding, wake surfing, reading personal development books, and “piloting” my remote-controlled airplanes.
I believe my background in real estate investing and management, along with my involvement in the economic development of the City of Merced, helps me to offer an impassioned understanding of our market. Albert Einstein once said: “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” That is my goal—offer exceptional value while helping my clients navigate what is likely the largest financial decision of their life.
