About Christopher
Chris Bober grew up near 40th and I Street in South Omaha and attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Grade School. At Omaha South High School, he lettered in football and baseball, and he was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a Goodrich Scholarship recipient and attended UNO, joining the football team. After redshirting, he started 46 consecutive games from 1996-99. He was team captain his senior season and named to the All American, All Midwest Region, and All North Central Conference teams in 1998 and 1999 while earning most valuable lineman in the NCC Conference and entire Division II.
Chris went undrafted in the 2000 NFL Draft, instead signing a free agent contract with the New York Giants. After being released before the 2000 season, he was added to the practice squad, being promoted to the active roster midseason. He was a member of the 2000 NFC Champion and Super Bowl XLV Giants squad. He went on to an eight-year NFL career starting thirty-eight games and playing in over 100 games as a member of the NY Giants (2000-2003) and Kansas City Chiefs. He retired in 2008 due to injuries and moved back to the Omaha area.
Chris returned to UNO and graduated with a General Sciences degree with emphasis in Math, Engineering, and PE in 2006, winning the prestigious NFL Education Award. He attended an NFL sponsored Entrepreneurial program at Harvard in 2007 and a High Growth Entrepreneurship Program at Kellogg University in 2008. he was the Owner/President of a custom apparel company named 67, Inc from 2008-2011.
Chris’s wife, Jennifer, and he founded The Chris Bober's Building Blocks Foundation in 2003, raising money for South Omaha athletics. He is heavily involved with the Knights of Columbus #3019 in South Omaha, chairing a committee for their annual Wild Game Feed which has raised more than $2 million for handicapped children. His children, Austin and Hanna, attend St. Pat's Catholic Grade School where they are members and love volunteering their time and talent. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, traveling, and pretty much anything outdoors with his friends and family.
