Darcy was born and raised in Ohio. Her childhood was mostly spent playing tennis and studying. She was an Academic All-American at Ball State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science & Wellness with a minor in Physical Activity for the Older Adult and a Master’s degree in Gerontology, the study of aging. After graduate school, Darcy returned home to the Cincinnati area and became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. It quickly became clear to Darcy that the world of regulations, short staffing, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and high turnover rates were not her cup of tea. In her mid 20s to early 30s, she worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. She got married at age 27 and was diagnosed with tongue cancer nine months later.
Darcy was a stay-at-home mom to her two boys for five years before making the courageous decision to file for divorce after 10 years in a mismatched marriage. Her ex-husband (whom she affectionately calls her ‘wasband’) signed the divorce papers on her 37th birthday - something she considers one of the best gifts she’s ever received. In her late 30s and early 40s, Darcy began a beautiful journey of self-discovery.
In the years following her divorce, Darcy took on various positions in the health and elder care fields. She worked for a home care company, Rock Steady Boxing, a boxing-inspired fitness program for people with Parkinson’s disease, a nursing home, and a Diabetes & Endocrinology office. All this time, Darcy was dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur, being her own boss, and doing something that she really loved. In the fall of 2020, her parents moved from Mason, Ohio to Noblesville to help Darcy with her two boys. Darcy reached out to her longtime realtor friend and asked him to help her parents find a home and also to help her get connected with real estate as a profession.
Darcy left her full-time job, dove headfirst into the online real estate course and hustled doing Instacart to make ends meet. Darcy earned her stripes at a large brokerage and a small boutique brokerage before finding her way to her current home, United Real Estate. In December 2022, Darcy created her brand Darcy P Cares for Me. Darcy’s tagline is: People Connector, Relationship Builder, and Storyteller.
In January 2023, Darcy launched her podcast Deep Dive with Darcy. She features leaders of nonprofit organizations, small business owners, friends from her real estate sphere, and a variety of interesting people whom she has met along the way. Darcy welcomes anyone onto her podcast. The podcast has an element of diversity, equity, and inclusion woven throughout. Darcy and her guests discuss their personal and professional backgrounds, how they got to where they are now, and what their passions, dreams, and hobbies are.
Darcy is a proud mom to Isaac, age 13, and Enzo, age 11. Darcy met her partner Peg when she sold her a house in 2022. Darcy describes their meeting like this: “Oh, you are my person!” The
