Laura Calhoun

Laura’s diverse background began in Knoxville, Tennessee with a B.S. in Communications specializing in Advertising. She worked in Advertising Sales for cable giant Scripps Howard in Knoxville before changing her career path and pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating from Tennessee Technological University, she practiced as a consulting engineer focusing on Transportation Planning while working extensively with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. She produced Advanced Planning Reports with recommendations for proposed highway improvements including historical, environmental, and geographical impacts, suggestions for structural improvements and right-of-way acquisition, design of proposed route and estimated cost of the project. She was also involved with early GPS mapping using aerial imagery, survey information and MicroStation software. Her path changed quickly when she married and moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 2003. There she focused on direct marketing and sales of luxury goods. Her love of community and philanthropic endeavors has resulted in a rich history of volunteering and fundraising for Hospice, Kosair Children’s Hospital, and the American Heart Association. More recently her philanthropic focus is Food for Thought, a local charity offering food in backpacks for school children. In addition to her engineering and sales experience, Laura has owned luxury cabins in the Smoky Mountains and understands the value of property as an investment and potential income producer. Laura lives in the Sea Breeze neighborhood on 30A in Inlet Beach with her husband, Parker.
