Michael's Background & Personal Life...

As a father of six I understand the importance of family life and living in a home that meets the needs of everyone! There are many wonderful areas around Charleston to raise a family or retire. After living on Folly Beach a few years we moved to Hanahan and built a home with Stanley Martin builders and our home overlooks the River and the Marina. I love living on the water and cruising the waterways on my boat. Charleston is a great place to live on the water, It’s always great to jump in the boat and cruise down the river and dock at a restaurant for dinner.

My experiences as the owner of a home inspection company, a pest control business and helping my Dad with custom homes give me a very well rounded perspective when you are looking to buy or sell a home. I have flipped several homes myself, built my own custom home and I have many personal investments in real estate, as both an investor & landlord. I enjoy sharing these experiences with my clients and love training all the Realtors in my brokerage.

After winning several awards and starting my own team at Berkshire Hathaway Home services, I felt it was a "no-brainer" for me to start my own Real Estate company. Combining my experiences with the commercial experience of Cassie Grant, the Director of Sales for my team we launched, Smith and Grant Real Estate.

During my time off I enjoy playing guitar, checking out the newest Charleston restaurants, fishing on my boat or relaxing down at any of the amazing Charleston Beaches.

After doing research on agents, we chose Michael to sell our condo on James Island in March of this year, 2018. It was our second home; we had owned it since it was new in 2005. It had never been rented and we had never lived there full time. It was an unusual listing, and Michael understood the value added in our never having lived there and selling it full furnished with lightly used furniture and appliances. Because we live about three hours away from Charleston, Michael took care of arranging for cleaning and a minor repair. The photographer he hired took beautiful photos. The cleaning job he arranged made the place immaculate. Once we started getting offers, he handled the process with great professionalism. Long story short, we accepted an all-cash offer for 7.5% above the listing price that we got as a result of Michael's going the extra mile. He is very responsive and really looks out for his clients' best interests

Michael was awesome! We would recommend him to anyone and if we ever buy another home we will contact him first. He truly cared about us and put in the most honest effort to make sure our experience of buying a home was successful. We were building a new home and he checked in with us several times to make sure everything was running smoothly.
