Acalanes is lowkey rich, and it's super well funded, but to be honest the community can be pretty exclusionary, especially if you haven't lived here your whole life.

Wanna have your kid profiled, singled out and abused by staff? Acalanes is for you. Kids who are "different" get pulled out of class and put in "special class" where they're singled out as a potential threat. If you're even slightly different, they will single you out, profile you, and treat you like a pariah.

I liked the campus and there were good resources. I had a mix of good and bad teachers, but the good ones were few and far between. There is a lack of diversity; most students are white. The school is very grade-oriented, and few students were passionate about the learning aspect as opposed to passing the class.

We just moved here so this is based only on our son’s first year, but he really loves this school. School is extremely over-rated. It’s mainly all white rich kids that drive to school in brand new cars and wear $$$ clothes. If you’re not white you’re going to struggle to fit in. Teachers aren’t exceptional. The school itself is falling apart.
