As a tuition-free public charter school, Advance U Elementary serves students in full-day pre-kindergarten through third grade just north of El Reposo Park in the South Mountain neighborhood of South Phoenix.
With a dedicated social-emotional support counselor on staff and an average class size of 13 students, children at the school receive more one-on-one attention that helps them thrive in all areas. In addition, the school supports one-to-one technology so every student has access to computers and the internet to facilitate learning. Kindergarteners at Advance U start with Journey’s Language Arts and Envision Math, and instruction introduces many hands-on learning opportunities as they progress.
Although the school’s location does not have a large campus, there is an outdoor eating area and playground where children can get outside to enjoy unstructured play time which is an important component of any early education program. Students can also participate in physical education, art, music, and drama activities to stay active and engaged every day.
Advance U Elementary also participates in the National School Lunch Program, which includes breakfast and lunch daily and offers a before- and after-school program where kids can dabble in arts and crafts, science experiments, and outdoor play. Parents and caregivers can access an online portal to keep track of their student(s) progress as well.
