The mission of Atlanta Speech School is to help every student develop their potential through language and literacy. Located in the central portion of the West Paces neighborhood, this private school teaches students with speech, hearing and learning disabilities. The school began in 1938 and is the most comprehensive language and literacy center in the nation. Atlanta Speech School is a combination of four schools. The Katherine Hamm Center teaches listening, literacy and spoken language to students who are deaf or have trouble hearing. The Kenan Preschool teaches early education for advanced and prepared students. Stepping Stones Preschool is a unique preschool program that provides therapeutic learning to students with speech or language issues. The Wardlaw School is an elementary school that offers K-6 education for children with dyslexia.
The Atlanta Speech School offers several extra services to its students. The Learning Lab provides one-on-one learning for students with academic needs, and the Audiology Clinic aids by giving hearing screenings, evaluations, implants and hearing aid support. The school offers summer camps that include, but are not limited to, music, cooking and art. No matter what your child's needs are, Atlanta Speech School will welcome your child and give them the resources they need.
