I am so impressed with this school, I would have never thought about the sheer amount of resources this school has. Im in Austin Corps which is an internship where we go out around austin departments within the city government and get to intern at one. Such an awesome opportunity. Couldn't be more glad I came here.

Akins is a school that is very challenged. The school holds more students than it was designed to hold. Many students have home difficulties and struggle with substances. These are observable to nearly any student at Akins, but my experience at Akins has been wonderful. I have met amazing people, teachers and students alike, at Akins and been presented with so many great opportunities through the school.

My experience at Akins has been...interesting, to say the least. One thing I do want to praise is my academy, AHA. The Arts and Humanities Academy has been outstanding since I transferred from the Social Services Academy at the start of my sophomore year. Our fine arts program is amazing, from orchestra to theatre, from art to choir, there are so many opportunities for you, should you choose to take them.

Akins, is a good school overall it may not be the best school in AISD. Although the teachers that go here care about their students and help them reach challenges that we face. Provide us with the best education they have, internship opportunities, and the atheltics here are pretty good. Homework wi...

In my personal opinion as an evolved parent, Akins High School is an amazing school with extremely caring teachers and wonderful administration. I've been nothing but impressed with this school since day one.

My son has improved tremendously since being at Akins. I am blessed he has teachers that care about his education.
