Welcome to the South Austin school where learning is more than fundamental, it’s fun. Joslin Elementary School is located in the Westgate neighborhood and is part of the Austin Independent School District. The district operates 125 facilities with more than 74,000 students enrolled. It also has a graduation rate of 92%, SAT scores that exceed the state average, and provides transportation to eligible students. Joslin Elementary School serves nearly 300 students from prekindergarten through fifth grade. This public school is small by design so children can receive individual attention from teachers. Students are taught the importance of respect, responsibility, integrity, courage, curiosity, and perseverance in the hope they will use these traits to become lifelong learners and leaders. Children at Joslin Elementary have the chance to become multilingual learners. The school has a language program that allows the pupil to choose a pathway of only English, English and Spanish, English and Mandarin, or all three languages together. There are also special education and gifted and talented programs in addition to after-school care. The after-care program lets children enjoy their after-school time by going on short field trips, playing sports and table games, learning music or math, and cooking. Breakfast and lunch are free at the school, and caretakers and parents are welcome to have lunch with their child. If you’re looking for a school where academics are fun, Joslin Elementary School is waiting for you.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
