Since 1937, Charleston Day School has been located in the heart of Charleston in the Harleston Village neighborhood. This independent school serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The mission at Charleston Day School is to foster scholarship, integrity, respect and responsibility in students and to prepare them for a lifetime of achievement.
Historic in its own right, this school is located within blocks of many landmarks in downtown Charleston, including City Hall, Gibbes Museum of Art, and Broad Street. Students are immersed in the history of the city throughout their enrollment. Students also participate in the Charleston community and the Harleston Village neighborhood through service and community improvement projects.
Charleston Day School provides students with superior academic, artistic and athletic programs in its core curriculum. It also provides wellness programs that address student needs for the mind and body, including mindfulness exercises and physical activities. Charleston Day School honors traditions while it prepares students for the future.

My children have thrived at CDS. The school offers a nurturing environment with rigorous academics and excellent character building programs like public speaking. It is a terrific place to be a young kid. The K-8 experience is the best!

One of the greatest benefits of the program at CDS is the impact it had on their high school experience. After my children completed grades 1-8 at Charleston Day, they were such confident students in high school. They had great study habits, could write well, speak intelligently, and worked independently and efficiently. Teachers take great care to support students. We had a great experience at the school.
