Serving as a partial magnet school, Mitchell Math and Science Elementary has an enrollment of just over 300 students and caters to pre-K through sixth grade. There’s a 13:1 student-teacher ratio, meaning students experience important social interaction with classmates while still receiving personalized learning from their hardworking teachers. Due to its location on the eastern end of the neighborhood, many students utilize the daily transportation provided by the school. Though the school has below-average scores in several subjects, it’s known for having outstanding teachers and a great STEM program that teach students to explore and enjoy learning. Outside of academics, Mitchell Elementary School offers extracurriculars such as chorus, band, sailing and a track and field team. The school has recently implemented a reading program designed to get students reading on grade level through in-school and summer programs. Students speak highly of their teachers and their time at this partial magnet school, and proudly take their academic and after-school experiences with them after graduation.
