The Latta Campus fills up half of Dilworth Elementary's building and serves grades kindergarten to fifth. Its predecessor was built in 1904 when Edward Dilworth Latta donated land to the city. After some recent renovations and additions, it is an essential part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School district again. The school has 31 classrooms, a spacious media center, updated computer lab and an indoor pond. As Dilworth Dragons, the students are all members of a Dragon House where they are grouped together to form communities of learners who support each other and celebrate both individual and group achievements. Dilworth Elementary’s curriculum promotes strong reading skills, problem solving and critical thinking, and the test scores at this school are far above the state average. Students can enroll in clubs for chess, science exploration or another language. They’re also able to sign up for sports including but not limited to running and tennis. Dilworth Elementary: Latta Campus is in the heart of Downtown Charlotte. With its location in the city, the students are able to receive support from community resources, businesses and the arts. They can also access a full-size gymnasium, two large soccer fields and eight tennis courts, all courtesy of the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation department.

Excellent teachers and leadership. I've had three children come through the halls of Dilworth. It has been the best experience for my children and as a parent. I cannot say enough great things about this school and the teachers who lovingly teach and care for their students.

I have three children at this school currently. This is our 6th year at Dilworth Elementary. I continue to be impressed by the teachers and staff. Dilworth Elementary is truly a neighborhood school. Many families that could afford to send their children to private school send their children here ins...

I think this school is great if you as a parent are of a certain stature in the community. The office staff is extremely rude and show no empathy. Communication is non-exsistant, and the principal and staff as a whole is judge mental and inconsiderate. I'm sure this school is a wonderful fit it you...

Some teachers are good, and definitely some poor teachers who don't really care and treat children without much empathy. There is quite a bit of negative reinforcement. The new principal is more concerned with students, engages the children and is not hyper-focused on the rules written in the handbo...
