Established in 1980, Al-Falaq/Meraj Academy is an advanced, non-secular academy located at 11070 Old Santa Susana Pass Road in the city of Chatsworth. The school enrolls approximately 138 students on a beautiful 2.5-acre site and serves preschool through eighth grade. Meraj Academy is a fully accredited Western Association of Schools & Colleges and is based upon the foundation of Islam. The mission of the Academy is to provide a quality education as well as preserve the culture and history of Islam.
The school strives to highlight the contribution of the Islamic culture to the field of philosophy, mathematics, science, religion, English and literature, as well as inspire students to carry Islamic tradition forward. Islamic history and teachings of the Holy Qur’an are a bedrock of the school’s educational platform, as well as a broader understanding of global genres and various periods throughout history.
The Meraj Academy also provides a host of extracurricular activities to engage students including an athletics department featuring soccer and basketball. The school also sponsors speech and has their own debate team, along with a celebrated chess club, yearbook group and several computer clubs. Special events throughout the year include a Qur’an competition, math and science competitions, a popular spelling bee and a chess tournament.
